The Sunday Funnies is a publication reprinting vintage Sunday comic strips in a 22"x16", full-color newspaper-insert-style format. It reprints classic American comic strips from as early as 1895 (but mostly between 1900 and the 1930s[1]), including Gasoline Alley, Little Nemo and Krazy Kat.[2]

It was launched in 2011 by Russ Cochran, who was associated with the classic comics reprints of Another Rainbow Publishing, Gladstone Publishing and Gemstone Publishing.[2] The source of the strips is the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum[1] at Ohio State University, which houses Bill Blackbeard's collection of comic strips, the largest and most comprehensive in the world.[2]

Originally intended to be published as a 32-page monthly, The Sunday Funnies is published in a 96-page quarterly format,[3] the same as three issues at a time, for cost reasons. It features strips such as Alley Oop, Bronc Peeler, Krazy Kat, Wee Willie Winkie's World and Crazy Quilt,[1] Polly and Her Pals, Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers and Terry and the Pirates.[4]
